Producer Denies Joker and Riddler Rumors for Batman Begins Sequel

In an interview with the Chicago Sun Times, Batman Begins producer Chuck Roven claims that the rumors they are currently looking for an actor to play a younger Joker for the sequel to the successful Batman Begins are untrue. Not of course that we can always believe the denials, but it doesn’t hurt to emphasise that everything reported so far regarding casting is nothing more than rumor.

Roven is pretty clear though saying:

“The Internet has the Joker cast already,” Roven says shaking his head. “The ‘Net has also cast the Riddler. It’s just all rumors. … The truth is we haven’t even decided who will be the next villain.”

Roven also indicates that a sequel definitely is in the works but that there’s no schedule in place yet as director Chris Nolan has another movie that he’s working on first. Given the success of Batman Begins, I can’t imagine they’d want to forge ahead with another director so I imagine it may be a couple of years before we get to see Batman Begins 2 (or whatever it ends up being called).
