Quill Awards 2005

The first ever Quill awards were presented by the Quills Literary Foundation at a ceremony in New York City on October 11th. The Quills Literary Foundation is dedicated to the “celebration of the written word” and the Quill awards were created to both inspire reading and promote literacy.

Quill Award winners this year included: J.K. Rowling for The Half-Blood Prince which was named Book Of The Year; Neil Gaiman, Andy Kubert and Richard Isanove for Marvel 1602: Vol 1 which won Best Graphic Novel and Christopher Moore for The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror which won Best Science-fiction, Fantasy Or Horror Novel.

The Quill award winners were picked by 6,000 booksellers and librarians. Books eligible for the awards were any English language books which were published in North America between August 1st 2004 and July 31st 2005.

The Quilll Award ceremony was hosted by Brian Williams and will be telecast by NBC on October 22nd 2005.
