Reviews of Supernatural Pilot

Dark Horizons has posted a review of the pilot episode of Supernatural, which is a new pilot from the WB. The reviewer describes Supernatural as X-Files, meets The OC, meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer. WB apparently has the intention of showing Supernatural after The Gilmore Girls.

The long and short of it is two brothers who go on ghost hunting missions. Naturally this being a WB teen drama, there’s plenty of angst (and hot chicks). On the plus side the reviewer says the pilot plays out like a fairly good episode of Buffy, which is praise where I come from. Then again, the reviewer seems less positive, suggesting this will have about a half season run.

Actually I’m a little confused by the reviewer. On the whole what is described seems choppy and disjointed, which would make for a bad pilot episode. On the other hand as I mentioned, he described it as like a fairly good episode of Buffy, which to me is light years head of how it was sounding in the review.

Also I can’t really get any sort of feel for the appeal of the lead characters from whats described either. Thats a key part of the success of any tv series and I’m not sure if the lack is in the review or in the pilots themselves.

So, good or bad? I still don’t know.
