Richard Dean Anderson To Appear in Stargate SG-1 Season 9
Well thats a slight exaggeration, but Richard Dean Anderson will be appearing in two episodes of season 9 of Stargate SG-1. Specifically he will be in the first and third episodes of the ninth season. Anderson is definitely not expected to be back as a regular on the series.
At least one of his appearances was apparently shot in Los Angeles rather than Vancouver where the series is filmed. Richard Dean Anderson had been working a reduced workload for the last couple of seasons of SG-1. His main reason for this being that he wanted to spend more time in California with his family.
Hopefully this news means that we’ll get a proper transition to the new SG-1 team rather than just being presented with it already in place.

I was a die hard MacGyver fan. I watched the Stargate movie when it was first released and loved it. But
the show would not have survived if Richard Dean Anderson was not the star. He made it happen for me.
The other charactors are great but they are a team (chemistry!). When the best of the best leaves the
show suffers. Be prepared, if He truly leaves, don’t count on a season 10!

Hi!
Stargate is a Great show and still will be in Season 9 and beyond.
Ben Browder is a good choice to take on the lead role. He will not replace Richard Dean Anderson, but the show will go on without him. Corin Nemec would have been a good choice too.
Richard Dean Anderson has a family, and that is more important now. He wants to spend time with his daughter so let him.
If you are a true Fan of the show, you would understand and be more considerate.
I wish him all the best and Stargate will still be the best Sci Fi on TV.
The stories are Great!
And also the spin off is Excellent!
Stargate better than Star Trek!
All the best to RDA…………………………………..

o my god this show will go down the toliet with out him. Who will be tge comic relif TE’lc. The show has been only benn held together by his acting. The best sci-fi show on television will be missing a very importent component.

if he has to leave i think they should have Jack retier and propse to carter. That way we can see him regualy.eafeageaerhaeth IF carter asks him to getr married that will the long promble of not bieng able to express there love for each other. that way that they could not do will jack was in comad of the sgc. That would of made a great season 8 ending or season openersafs9 opens
9 opening. They could go on there “honeymoon” I had another idea this is just a funning thing but wat if the
sg1 team went forwad into the future and met up with the enterprise. just imagin data and carter in the same r
room. I would fell sorry for jack. lol

Have any of you guys SEEN Ben Browder. Sorry but Farscape was FAR better than trek or SG1, and I am
a die hard Trekkie for life and I used to be a huge fan of SG1 but now I really dont keep up.
Ben Browder is a Phanominal actor and very funny, I’m finally going to watch the show again because of him!
Dont get me wrong I was crushed to hear about RDA leaving, but he is a real person with a family and a life!
I’m proud of him that he wants to be with them.

Ok Everybody lets not dump the show because Richard Dean Anderson is leaving the show. I agree he is a great actor
and personally my favorite actor. I thought he was great as MacGuyver and I’ve supported him since. But, he gave
Stargate SG-1 7 great years and now he wants a little me time. Look at it this way, Richard has been acting full time
in MacGuyver and Stargate for many years. When you create these shows you have to basically live on the sets working
10,12,15 hours a day for years. He needs a break, wants to spend time with his new little girl and basically enjoy
life before it passes him by. Richard is no spring chicken anymore and he deserves to reap that which he has sewn. So,
with that being said enjoy the new show, thank god Michael Shanks has returned and with the remaining three characters
of the old crew I believe the show can do extrememly well and prosper. What will help is if the Richard will return
occasionally to the show to keep his spirit alive and bring back some of the wonderful cynicism which he dishes out
so effectively. I hope you all continue to support Stargate SG-1, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed if you give it a
chance.

Well, I’m sorry to see RDA jump ship but after 8 seasons and having a little girl to bring up I understand and respect his choice.
However as he is leaving I don’t understand who they did not bring back Don Davis as General Hammond. It would have been easy to script
him back in. So obviously I’m not enthused by the introduction of Beau Bridges although I know he will play the role effectively.
It will be interesting to see Ben Browder join the SG1 team and also to see how well he will play a macho role while reporting to a woman

I just dont believe I could even watch the show with richard dean anderson in it.I still watch the macgyver reruns, he is a brillant actor, I have noticed that he hasnt been doing much in the way of physical activity,he seems to sit behind the desk, what a shame.I do understand that he is getting older, but please beau bridges you have to be kidding, He would be my last choice, stargate will definatly not survive without rda.

I love SGC! I will miss the primary characters that are gone! I will miss the old show!
BUT if I did not miss these things I could get fixated and get in a rut! Enjoy the changes
and realize we all must move on to other phases in our lives. QUIT THE WHINING! There will be
more diversity in life and SGC can do this too. Enjoy and find the goodness not the bad.

Whine whine whine. Er, people. Listen to his reasons. He wants to spend time with his family.
His family is more important than your enjoyment on a fictional show. That said, he was a good char.
But it’s good to have some change too. Jonas was a good unique character. Rock on SG-1.

Richard Dean Anderson was great in the series. I first started watching when it was on Showtime with
no commercial interruptions. I am going to keep an open mind about the whole change over thing…but
I will miss the sarcasm and wit of RDA’s character. So far, Ben is doing a good job and is slowly
winning me over. But, I have to agree….Beau Bridges??? OMG!! I would not have chosen him to be the
General. His role seems a little smug and pompous. I guess it’s just how his persona was written into
the series. But, as the “leader”, his character is no good. Tonight will be the third new episode and
I will watch it. I guess it’s just like ST TNG….it will take some getting used to the new people.
The story concept is still good. Good luck to RDA with his family life. He put a lot into the series
for a long time and it’s his turn to do what feels right.

I loved Richard Dean Anderson’s character and it will be hard not to see him every week but I
love SG1. It’s a great show and I look forward to the new storylines. I also love Amanda Tapping
and hope to see more of her in the coming episodes. It’s always hard transitioning new characters
in a series but the new plots have many new possibilities. Thanks Richard for your humorous
portrayal of a very memorable charactor. You will be missed….

OK..so I watched the third episode…I’m really trying to get into the new format but
puhleeze!!! the Daniel and Vala Show?!?!? And it looks like next week will be more of
the same. I was looking forward to getting to know the new SG-1 team but where are they?
A couple of weeks more of the same thing and I will be looking forward to watching Monday’s
old reruns instead. At this point, I can say thank the powers for Stargate Atlantis…at
least it hasn’t become some sort of ego trip….yet.

Richard Dean anderson was one of the most important part of the show and I feel that
the way he left it was horrible! It was so sudden after what the ‘powers that
be’hinted (Hell, SHOUTED) was going to happen with Sam - then poof! hes gone?
SERIOUSLY! They don’t even show him saying GOODBYE to Sam. I’ve been waiting
for those two to get together since the very first episode came out!
The PTB should have had Carter assume control of SG-1. . . but whatever.
What I really want is some closure on the sam/jack front.
Truth is RDA leaving so that he can spend more time with his child gains him
more of my respect as a person. No matter how much i rail about the loss of jack on
on the show.
I hope to see him some more on the show in guest appearances.

He’s got to be the funniest guy on the show. He’s got so much wit and it’s a real shame to see him leave us. I’ve been waiting for him and Carter to get it on for so long and hopefully the writers won’t forget their bond. I think a lot of people feel a little bit warmer inside when they share a moment :p. Anyway family should always come first so good luck to the guy. He’ll always be remembered. Look forward to seeing you soon.

My husband is a huge scifi fan. Stargate SG-1 is his number one show.
I starting watching Stargate SG-1 just to be with my husband and found I liked the show especially
Richard Dean Anderson. Now that he is not on there any more, I go to another room and watch a movie
or something. Why can’t his family move where he works?

i love RDA so much. He IS stargate. His humour and witty remarks are what makes him so unique. I agree that Stargate wouldnt have done so well if Rick hadn’t been on it. My main reason for watching it is because of O’Neill. And OMG if he and Sam don’t get together the cerators are gonna receive some serious hate mail!!!
BUT having said that, i know deep down that he’s doing the right thing for hiself personally, because he wantts to spebnd time with Wylie (his daughter). He’s always away filming and has been for 8 years of her life3 so i think its time he got to spend time with his daughter, uninterrupted time. So i wish him all the best and hope he will grace our stargate sceens every so often with his presence

NOOOOOOOOOOOO,OK
I UNDERSTAND HIM WANTING TO BE WITH HIS FAMILY BUT HE CAN A
T LEAST MAKE SOME GUEST APPPEARANCE ON SHOW FOR SOME COMIC RELIEF
AND I GUARANTEE SCI-FI RATINGS FOR SG=1 WILL GET HIGHER WITH ANDERSON IN THE EPISODE

I am sorry to see RDA go. I think he made the show with his humor and quick responses. Since he no longe
no longer appears on the show, it just doesn’t seem the same. It’s boring, and I no longer watch it.
Too bad, he could have taken that show to even greater heights.

The basis for the popularity of the Stargate series was not the technology but the interaction between the cast members. Without that feeling of family, the humor, the depth of character development, the series is not worth watching. Oh well, all good things must come to an end.

Why don’t the producers finish the storyline –have Jack retire, marry Sam, and then, depending upon how much Rick wants to work, have him come back as a Stargate consultant–people do retire from the military and work as consultants for military projects.===Plus who thought up the “new” villians–how unoriginal and boring–there was plenty of characters left without having to invent new ones. Did the writers change for the show–the new story lines are pathetic. Vieewers are not idiots!

Truly, this news bites. Always loved MacG, and still watch the reruns even today. I was a bit afraid to watch SG1 at first since I knew they were filming with different characters than the movie, and I really enjoyed the movie. Shows are seldom as good as the movie but boy was I surprised. In TV-dom 9 seasons is a long time. Props to all who have held it together this long. And it’s not like we didn’t see it coming. Atlantis was probably developed with just this sort of expectation in mind.
The treks continue to evolve and one way or another this will too if the writers /producers et al do it right. ( star gate next generation, deep gate 9, star gate voyager, star gate entergate?) O.K. maybe not Entergate, but deep gate 9 works.

I have watched sg-1 since it started and the main reason is because of rda, and I respect his reason for quiting the series, but in the same page i have quit watching sg-1 because he is not among the cast anymore..it’s that simple and because I cannot stand Beau Bridges I think he is among the worst actors that has ever appeared on the screen it seems as though there would have been better actors to choose from than him..no dislike for him, just his terrible acting he is not his father, and his father wasn’t that good either. so there you have

Well, I loathed Farscape, so having two from there in the show puts me right off. It’s all about O’Neill, Carter, Jackson, Teal’c. I missed Jackson when he vanished. However, I completely understand why RDA wants to leave, and as he comes across as such a nice guy, I don’t begrudge him for an instant his “father time”. Just wish they’d put him with Carter and wrapped up the series.
But come on guys, some of you are typing like you’re too crazy think straight - half these messages don’t even make sense there’s so many typos and text-speak. Get a grip! Life goes on! At least you had 9 years - that’s a heck lot more than many series get!

richard dean anderson was great on stagate of course but
i think the way they left his and carter’s relationships was
kind of sucky they should’ve let it at least evolve more or gave
a little bit more of it in season 8 and he could still come back but
until then I am afraid i’ll be stuck on seasons 1-8

Yeap I was surprised since today I saw the first episode on the season and no Oneill
around, well that is how life is nothing last forever, I will miss his comments,
He was excellent in Mcgyver and excellent in SG-1, damn is not the same show.
Anyway Thanks RDA for 8 wonderful years, one of the best shows ever.
