Robert Jordan Biography

Robert Jordan is the pseudonym for James Oliver Rigney Jr. Under this name Jordan has written the popular Wheel of Time fantasy series and a number of Conan books. He has also written historic fiction under the name Reagan O’Neal and westerns as Jackson O’Reilly.

Jordan started writing in 1977 publishing history articles. His first novel The Fallon Blood was published in 1980 and was a historical family drama (written as Regan O’Neal). Jordan wrote two more Fallon books and a western called The Cheyenne Raiders before moving on to fantasy with a series of seven Conan novels in 1982.

The first book in the Wheel of Time series, The Eye of the World was published in 1990 to huge success and Jordan has been working on that series ever since.

The Wheel of Time

The Wheel of Time is Robert Jordan’s most popular work. Its a currently ongoing series of fantasy books which now includes one prequel novel (with more to come). Wheel of Time is responsible for the recent boom in fantasy publishing as it has been a massive success. Currently the following books in the series are available:
