Robocop Remake In The Works?
CHUD.com is reporting on a rumor that there may be plans for a remake of the classic science fiction series Robocop in the works. Robocop was an ultra-violent science fiction satire which promptly inspired two progressivelyworse sequels, a short lived TV series.
CHUD.com also mention a couple of straight to cable movies who’s existance I was previously blissfully unaware of.
So considering the fact that everything bar the original Robocop movie was poor to ghastly, why are they talking a remake? Who knows. It seems that Paul Verhoeven, the director of the original movie wants nothing to do with this proposed remake.
The problem I see with Robocop is that the original was a satire and none of the sequels ever got that basic fact. They took the Robocop concept and treated it seriously. My bet would be a that a remake would make the same mistake.
