Scarlett Johanssen Joins Cast of The Prestige
It’s being reported that acress Scarlett Johanssen (Eight Legged Freaks, The Island) is joining a cast that includes Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine and David Bowie in the Christopher Nolan film The Prestige based on the Christopher Priest novel of the same name.
Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman play rival magicians in turn-of-the-century London who battle each other for trade secrets. Their rivalry becomes so intense that it turns them into mruderers. Scarlett Johanssen will play a magician’s assistant who works for both Jackman and Bale’s characters.
The title of The Prestige apparently refers to the residue left after a magician’s successful trick. Priest’s novel is apparently highly regarded and from the sound of things this is perfect fodder for a wonderfully atmospheric movie. Something we already know that Christopher Nolan is capable of creating.
