Sci Fi Channel Rejects Doctor Who
IGN Film Force has a report that the Sci Fi Channel have turned down the new Doctor Who series. Apparently after viewing some completed episodes they found the series “somewhat lacking” and didn’t think it would fit into the network’s schedule.
This is obviously bad news for those of us in the US who really want to see the series, but I wouldn’t read too much into the fact some network executives didn’t like it. For a start Doctor Who has always been an acquired taste, even for science fiction fans.
The fact is that the word about this new series has been overwhelmingly positive. Considering some of the bizarre decisions that the Sci-Fi Channel have made over the last 4 years, I’m more inclined to think its a mistake on their part than on anyone elses.
But that does leave Doctor Who still homeless in the US and with the UK air date so close there’s little hope of seeing it any time soon. ![]()

So, other than Twilight (sp) Zone and maybe the old Outer Limits re-runs, theres no reason to watch the SciFi channel. Great. I just might stop watching tv all together.

For those close to the Canadian border, the CBC starts airing Doctor Who on April 5th
(two weeks after UK).

“Somewhat lacking” is a odd statement from the network that brought us “MANSQUITO”.
