Welcome to another new regular segment for the site. The Science Fiction Blog Roundup was inspired by a three part discussion of the Iain M. Banks novel Matter which was conducted across three blogs.
My problem was that not having read Matter, I don't have anything very incisive to add to this particular discussion, yet it was something I'm sure people who read Solar Flare would be interested in. The answer? A weekly roundup of things you ought to read on the Science Fiction Blogs.
The discussion began at Big Dumb Object and then continued at Torque Control, and was concluded at Velcro City Tourist Board. If you have any interest at all in Iain M. Banks and his Culture novels it's definitely worth a read. Warning there are some spoilers though.

So what else caught my interest this week?
Well over at Slice of Sci-Fi they offered up The Top 7 Most Embarrassing Moments In Science Fiction. I'm not sure they're the most embarrassing, but they're certainly not highlights of the genre.
Meanwhile io9.com asks the question Why Do Anti-Heroes Rule Science Fiction? Honestly I'm not sure that they rule it exactly. There are plenty of examples of the classic hero in science fiction. Still it's an interesting look at the anti-hero archetype as it applies to science fiction.
And lastly Lisa Paitz Spindler gives us Thirteen Hints We Know About The Final Cylon which if like me you have a terrible memory and can't possibly keep track of all the little hints and clues is a blessing.
And that will do for this week, but in case anyone is interested in the pages I'm visiting you can check out my StumbleUpon Page or my Google Reader Shared Page.
Eoghann Irving is amongst other things the creator and Editor of Solar Flare. He has a life long interest in all forms of science fiction and fantasy and a pressing need to share this interest with anyone who will listen. Find out more at his his website eoghann.com.| 2.9 |
