Providing the Information That Sci-Fi Fans Need

Science Fiction Web Roundup #2

Well technically I guess this should be number one again since last week it was the Science Fiction Blog Roundup, but it seemed like a pointless distinction. Blog, website, if it’s interesting, I’ll link to it.

  • Lost Zombies is a community generated zombie documentary. If you think zombies are cool then this is definitely worth a few minutes of your time. I’m always impressed by the creativity of genre fans and this is another example of that creativity at work.
  • io9.com offers us Eradicating Camp: 21 Ways to Eradicate Campiness from Science Fiction. There’s a lot of truth in the list, but it does seem to take itself a little too seriously.
  • Sadness in the Wasteland is a post at Slice of SciFi that bemoans the lack of quality science fiction movies currently. Granted I’m not the best person to judge. What with wife and work and kids, I have pretty limited time for watching movies. I certaintly can’t claim a comprehensive knowledge of 2007-2008 output. Still is it really any worse than it’s always been?
  • SF Signal has some interesting information about Young Adult SF. Turns out there’s a lot of it out there and it’s selling very well (at least compared to adult SF). I remember reading a lot of that sort of thing as a kid but these days I’m just not exposed to it. Which is a shame because I’ve probably been missing out.
  • io9.com gives us the Coolest Moons In the Galaxy, and appears to have spent far too much effort figuring this out. Seriously there’s charts and everything.
  • And SF Signal proves again why it’s been in my feed reader since I started using one by giving us MIND MELD: WHich SF/F Books Have The Best And Worst Endings?. It’s an interesting discussion in itself and the authors they gathered to answer it, give some surprising (and some not so surprising) answers.
Eoghann Irving is amongst other things the creator and Editor of Solar Flare. He has a life long interest in all forms of science fiction and fantasy and a pressing need to share this interest with anyone who will listen. Find out more at his personal website eoghann.com..
