Science of Star Trek Documentary Narrated by William Shatner
William Shatner will narrate a two hour documentary called The Science of Star Trek. Shatner is of course best known for portraying Captain James T. Kirk in the original series of Star Trek. The documentary will feature legitimate scientific research but the aim is to inject a certain amount of humor into the whole thing.
The Science of Star Trek is based William Shatner’s book I’m Working on That: A Trek from Science Fiction to Science Fact which looked at many of the ideas from the show and whether any of them had become reality in the last 40 years.
The documentary is both narrated and hosted by Shatner and features a number of scientists who were apparently inspired by Star Trek when they were children. It is currently still in production but is expected to be complete in the fall and will air on the History Channel in the US (seems odd but thats what the paper says) and the Discovery Channel in Canada some time next season.
Sounds like it could be an interesting documentary. I usually enjoy the more out there sort of science.
