SF TV Will Be Big This Year
… or so says the Hollywood Reporter who are predicting that Fringe, the new J.J. Abrams show will be the biggest of the lot. Of course genre television shows had a prety good year last year with Heroes and Ghost Whisperer both winning their timeslots.
Fringe is about an FBI agent who finds herself working with an institutionalized scientist in order to explain a series of unexplained phenomena.

The Hollywood Reporter also singles out CBS’ Eleventh Hour and ABC’s Life on Mars, both of which are remakes of British shows. Eleventh hour will star Rufus Sewell and Marley Shelton as scientists who try to save people from experiments gone badly wrong.
Life on Mars is the American version of the critically acclaimed BBC series of the same name (recently shown on BBC America) about a detective who wakes up after an accident to find he has gone back in time to the 1970s. I’m surprised to see this one listed as a hit, because I’d heard that they had re-shot the pilot which didn’t sound very encouraging.
