Short Story A Day
I’d like to congratulate John over at SFSignal for achieving last years New Year’s Resolution which was to read a certain number of stories over the course of the year. I’ll leave the full details of the points system to John, but the main point is that he read a lot of both short stories and full length novels.
Far more and a far wider range than I’ve ever managed in the course of a year. Its an interesting idea, picking a reading target like that probably encourages reading a far wider range of people than you would normally read. And reading new authors can never be an entirely bad thing. Unfortunately, with twins on the way, I’ll be lucky if I can even keep up my current plodding pace on novels, never mind adding short stories to the mix too.
For the full details on John’s experiment and lots of information about what he read (some good stuff from the look of it) and what he liked, hop on over to his post about it.

I have to say that while the project initially seemed daunting, it served to help me better organize my time. And it was a helluva lot of fun.
