Singer Working On Logan’s Run Script

According to a report at SciFi Wire Bryan Singer (X-Men, X2, Superman Returns) is reuniting with writer Christopher McQuarrie, whom he last worked with on The Usual Suspects, to write the script for the remake of Logan’s Run.

Singer is now looking to start production on the movie (which was delayed in order for Singer to finish working on Superman Returns) in 2006 with a release in 2008. The new movie is the second adaptation of the SF book following a 1976 film version.

Singer says that he plans to take elements from both the book and the previous movie and merge that with some ideas of his own to update the story. Logan’s Run was about a futuristic society in which people were killed at the age of 21. In the movie version changed that age to 30.

Logan’s Run is a solid science fiction concept that I think could benefit from a new adaptation that takes advantage of modern special effects. Considering Singer’s track record too, I think this one has a lot of promise
