Spider-man 3, Its The Black Costume
The Comics Continuum has posted a picture they received from the studio which clearly shows Spider-man wearing a black costume. If there was any doubt at all, it’s removed by the text that the studio sent with the image.
“You may think you’re looking at a black and white photo. Look closely, Spider-Man wears a black suit in Spider-Man 3. Tobey Maguire returns in the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-Man 3 coming May 2007.”
How significant this news is will depend on how familiar you are with Marvel Comics history
Sony Pictures has provided The Continuum with a new image from Spider-Man 3. For those not up on these things, at one point Spider-man switched to wearing a black version of his costume. The real life reason for this change was simply that Spider-man’s costume is a pain to draw.
The storyline reason was that his costume was ruined (The story was Secret Wars for those who care about these things) and some alien equipment created a new costume for him. Later Spider-man discovered that his new costume was actually an intelligent alien symbiote that was feeding on him.
The long and short of a very convoluted story is that the symbiote eventually merged with one Eddie Brock to create the super-villain Venom.
