Star Trek: Excalibur Fan FilmTrailer Available
The people behind the Star Trek: Excalibur fan film have released a teaser trailer for their series. Star Trek: Excalibur is planned as a non profit series inspired by Star Trek. It will chronicle the adventures of Captain Thomas H. Nelson and the crew of the USS Exalibur immediately following the end of the third season of the original series. Episodes will be available as a free download form the Star Trek: Excalibur website and they hope to have a 10 episode first season.
On first viewing of the teaser trailer I had mixed feelings. Obviously they have limited footage to work with right now. So the majority of the trailer is built from static images. Given that limitation they did a good job, but it did make the trailer look rather cheap and I wasn’t terribly impressed.
However my feelings changed when I saw the final section of the trailer which highlighted some more complete CGI footage of the Excalibur in action. That looked a lot more impressive and gives me considerable hope for this fan series. I’d be really interested to see a trailer for the first episode once they have more footage to work with.
