Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis Renewed

This news isn't really much of a surprise, but its good news for fans of the Stargate series. The Sci Fi Channel has announced that it has renewed Stargate SG-1 for a 10th season and Stargate Atlantis for a third season.
Both series will begin production of their 20 episode seasons in early 2006 for a summer 2006 premiere. SG-1 and Atlantis are both in a mid-season break right now with the second half of their current seasons set to air starting January 2006.
Stargate SG-1's 10th season will make it the longest-running science fiction drama in American television history beating The X-Files, The Twilight Zone and every series of Star Trek. Its run pales in comparison to British sci-fi series Doctor Who though, which managed 26 consecutive seasons before its initial cancelation.
Both SG-1 and Atlantis have been scoring well with viewers this season with the first half of season nine of Stargate SG-1 averaging 2.4 million viewers and the first half of season two of Stargate Atlantis doing 2.3 million viewers on average.
There's no word yet as to what, if any cast changes there may be for the new seasons.
