Superman Returns Video Journal #21
The latest video production journal from the Superman Returns movie is online at BlueTights.net. This time round its a look at the graphic designers and how much of their work goes into making the whole “world” of Superman believable.
Graphic designers are part of all movie productions, but with a setup like Superman Returns which exists in a non-existant city, their role is much greater. Not only do they need to create simple street signs, but the film also needs logos for tv stations, whole maps have to be created and street names assigned.
The vidoe journal is only a couple of minutes long and there aren’t any glimpses of movie footage from Superman Returns this time round, but it’s still pretty cool just seeing the attention to detail that’s being brought to this production. I’m particularly curious why they have re-created an early superman comic and what role that will play in the film. I saw one person suggest it might be for a credits sequence. That would be cool.
