Somehow I’ve managed to go all these years and only read one Terry Pratchett book, specifically Good Omens, which he co-wrote with Neil Gaiman. When you consider the number of books that Pratchett has written and their popularity, thats a pretty big oversight on my part. So I decided to correct it starting at the beginning with The Color of Magic.

By the time you reach book four of David Eddings Belgariad sequence, there’s really not a lot new to say. Castle of Wizardry is still the story of farmboy Garion, his Aunt “Pol” (Polgara) and “Grandfather” Belgarath. It’s now also very much the story of the Imperial Princes Ce’Nedra too.

The Sapphire Rose is the third and last book in The Ellenium by David Eddings. This is the first time I’ve re-read the book in probably most of 10 years. It’s been a rather disappointing experience quite frankly. I had remembered this series as the most adult of Eddings work, but my memory was clearly faulty.

Storm Front was the first in Jim Butcher’s The Dresden Files series of books. As such it devotes a significant amount of effort into setting up Harry Dresden’s world. For those who aren’t familiar with the series, Harry Dresden is a Wizard / Private Investigator based out of present day Chicago. He’s a powerful wizard at that but with a lot of baggage and issues.

Changer by Jane M. Lindskold was one of the books I won courtesy of EOS earlier in the year. If I’d had to pay for it I don’t think I’d have got it. The cover is not terribly attractive and the blurb on the back is downright off-putting.
