The Greatest Show In The Galaxy #2

Welcome to week two of the Greatest Show In the Galaxy. It’s something of a quiet week this time, but I think we make up for in quality anything we may have lost in quantity. The two entries are very strong.

Meta

Paul raven / Armchair Anarchist presents Science fiction and rock music - a cultural comparison; part 1 posted at Velcro City Tourist Board. This is the first part of a three part article (all three are already posted) that compares Rock Music and Science Fiction. Not the first comparison that springs to mind, but he argues his case skillfully and had me convinced by the end of part 1. If that makes no sense to you, all I can say is go and read it, you’ll see.

Humor

Mark A. Rayner presents Ask General Kang: What kind of drug policies do you have on your home world? posted at the skwib. Mark is a new contributor to our Sci Fi Carnival and if you’ve ever been concerned about the effects of drugs on tut-wearing, plasma carrying chimp soldiers, then General Kang addresses your concerns.

Television

My own contribution to this week’s carnival is to point you towards a post I wrote earlier in the week called 40 Years of Star Trek which takes a brief personal look at the 40th Anniversary of Star Trek and where we might go from here.

Wrap Up

And that’s all we’ve got this week folks. Not as many contributions as I was hoping for, but I take a large part of the blame for not promoting this week as actively. It’s been a rough week and I’ll do better next time. You’ll notice that there are links to the carnival on every page of the blog now and if you’d like to help promote it I’ll be happy to give you the little piece of javascript that creates that link you see at the top of this week’s carnival.

If you’d like to part of next week’s edition (to be published on Friday 15th of September) the please submit your article to The Greatest Show In The Galaxy using the carnival submission form.
