The Greatest Show In The Galaxy, A Sci-Fi Carnival

Update: The Next Sci-Fi Carnival will be held on Friday September 15th 2006. Submissions must be in by midnight Thursday 14th September.

Some of you may recognize the title as the name of a Doctor Who story, (featuring Sylvester McCoy's Seventh Doctor for those who care about these things). I picked it because I thought it captured the feel I'm going for in organizing this blog carnival. Its all about fun.

The theme of the carnival is very simple. I want to feature posts that talk about science fiction or fantasy. They can be personal posts, analytical posts or even comedic posts. Short, or long, I don't mind. The only thing I'm really not looking for is news posts and press releases (I think I cover them fairly well already on this blog). This is about sharing personal favorite moments, and exploring what it is that you (and I) enjoy about the genre.

Want to talk about your memories of an obscure tv show from the 80s that only lasted 6 episodes? Go for it! Currently running a science fiction blog and just want to attract some fresh visitors? No problem, just submit a new article and I'll be happy to link to it.

How Do I Join In?

It's really simple, you write a post on your blog (it doesn't have to be a sci-fi blog so long as the post itself relates to science fiction or fantasy in some way) and submit your post to me before the deadline. Thats it! I'll do the rest. After the deadline for submissions is closed I'll publish a post listing all the links that have been submitted to me.

I am running The Greatest Show In The Galaxy weekly. The deadline for submissions is Thursday of each week with the carnival post being published on Fridays.

Well the more contributors I have the more fun this will be for everyone which should in turn increase the number of readers we all get from the Carnival. So any help you can give me in promoting The Greatest Show In The Galaxy would be greatly appreciated.

When Does It Start?

The Greatest Show In The Galaxy begins on Friday 1st September 2006. Submissions for the first carnival must be in by Thursday 31st of August.
