The Light of Alexandria
Solar Flare got another new advertiser recently that I’ve been meaning to post a little something about. The Light of Alexandria is a little different to the usual stuff you see on this site for one very simple reason. It’s fact, not fiction.
James Maynard has written a book that covers the first thousand years of science in the ancient world. If you’ve taken any interest at all in either history or science then you’ll recognize the names of a lot of the people in The Light of Alexandria.
Now reading about history isn’t to everyone’s taste of course, but if you’ve ever enjoyed the history channel, or series like Cosmos you may well enjoy Maynard’s book. He’s made the first couple of chapters available for free on his website, so why not check them out and see if it doesn’t capture your interest.

Eoghann Irving is amongst other things the creator and Editor of Solar Flare. He has a life long interest in all forms of science fiction and fantasy and a pressing need to share this interest with anyone who will listen. Find out more at his personal website eoghann.com..
