The Tick: vs. Season One Coming To DVD
The Tick, the 90s animated series is finally making it onto DVD. The Tick: vs. Season One will be released on DVD August 29th 2006 by Buena Vista Home Entertainment. The Tick was a saturday morning cartoon ostensibly for kids that appealed to many adults too.
The basic concept is very simple. The Tick is a rather dumb, but invulnerable superhero who protects The City from evil-doers.
The Tick: vs. Season One features The Tick’s sidekick Aruther (who used to be an accountant), superheroes like The Civic-Minded Five, the Caped Chameloen and American Maid and a supervillains like The Idea Men, The Breadmaster, El Seed and The Uncommon Cold. The Tick is a satire on superheroes and the writers packed it with pop culture references and jokes.
With a retail price of $34.99, The Tick: vs. Season One comes on 2 discs with a running time of and features 12 of the 13 episodes of the first season of The Tick. The missing episode The Tick vs. The Mole-Men has been left out of “creative reasons”.
Now the release date for The Tick: vs. Season One has been available for some time at this point, but I’m mentioning it because I’m going to see if I can get my hands on a copy and give this cartoon classic the detailed review it deserves.
