The Triangle Scores Big For Sci Fi Channel

The Sci Fi Channel’s latest mini-series, The Triangle, has proved to be a huge ratings success for the cable channel. The Triangle scored an average rating of 3.6 over its three episodes which makes it the highest rated mini-series on Sci Fi since they broadcast Taken back in 2003.

The Triangle which was executive produced by Bryan Singer (X-Men, Superman Returns) Dean Devlin (Independence Day) and Rockne O’Bannon (Farscape) averaged some 4.2 million viewers each night during its December 5-7 premier.

Those ratings were enough to win the Sci Fi Channel the number one slot for adults 25-54 in the cable market three nights in a row. Even better from Sci Fi’s perspective is that some 45% of those adults were female which is far above their usual score in that demographic. Ratings did slip somewhat over the course of the series though with the third episode scoring a 3.3 rating and an audience of around 3.9 million.

And was the show any good? I can’t tell you as I haven’t watched it yet, but I believe all the episodes are now sitting on my TiVo waiting for me to find the time.
