Threshold To Premiere On September 16th
CBS will launch their new sci-fi show Threshold with a two hour premiere of the show on Friday September 16th at 9pm. That will make it one of CBS first shows of the new season and after its 2 hour opening week it will return to a regular 1 hour slot at 9pm on Fridays preceeded by Ghost (another new drama) and the returning Numb3rs.
Threshold, which is from Enterprise creator Brannon Braga and stars Brent Spiner (who played Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation) was recently described by one critic as like “your average Saturday night B-movie on the Sci Fi Channel, except with better casting.” Which isn’t exactly what I’d call a ringing endorsement.
What I find interesting about this bit of scheduling is that CBS is putting the show on a Friday which is often a death slot on network television and yet seems optimistic enough about it to start with a 2 hour special. With Sci Fi Fridays still running in September, some of Threshold’s core audience may be otherwise engaged.
