Timberlake Visits Alice To Talk About Shrek
Last night at New York’s Alice Tully Hall a group of various media stars and backroom talents from forthcoming animated films came together for an event hosted by the Lincoln Center’s Film Society. Animation Now: Imagination, Innovation, Inspiration was the title for the evenings entertainment where the studios gave a small taste of what they have coming to our movie screens over the next couple of years.
The show was hosted by NBC weatherman Al Roker who introduced Mike Myers, Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld along with some of the production staff from films they are associating their names with. The audience were shown examples of the whole process of modern animated film making with every stage from initial story idea to finished film score being demonstrated.
The big surprise of the evening was the unscheduled appearance of Justin Timberlake who announced he has a guest star role in the next Shrek film, playing Artie, the Kings nephew. Although currently the boyfriend of Cameron Diaz, who will again reprise her role as Princess Fiona, it is reported by the film production team that this had no bearing on their decision to cast Timberlake.
Here is a list of the films that were previewed:
MADAGASCAR: Opening date May 27, 2005
WALLACE & GROMIT — THE CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT: October 7, 2005
OVER THE HEDGE: May 19, 2006
FLUSHED AWAY: November 3, 2006
SHREK 3: May 18, 2007
BEE MOVIE: November 2, 2007
I have been a science fiction, comic book and animation fan for a very long time. I honestly believe that comics are an extremely vital and exciting art form whose true worth is only now beginning to be recognised in the mainstream media and this appreciation can only continue to grow in the future. I regularly write science fiction short stories and send them off to the magazines. So far their response has not exactly allowed me to give up my day job but I plan to keep plugging away at it..

I’m curious about Shrek 3. I loved the first one and enjoyed the second one, but I wonder if they’re going to the well once too many now.
Now Wallace & Gromit, well let’s just say I have a DVD of all their previous animated films.
