V For Vendetta Release Date Now March 17th
Well this is disapointing news, but seems typical of how this movie had been treated. The movie adaptation of V for Vendetta will now open March 17th 2006 instead of November 4th 2005 as originally planned. Of course this completely destroys the whole Remember, Remember, The Fifth of November tagline. The reason given for the delay is that it is to accommodate the movie’s post production schedule.
V for Vendetta is based the Alan Moore and David Lloyd graphic novel of the same name. Set in an alternate universe where Britain is a fascist state, the story centers on an anarchist terrorist who bombs London, assassinates government officials and models himself after historical traitor Guy Fawkes (thus the November 5th tagline). One scene in the graphic novel deals with a bombing in the London Underground.
Inevitably this has lead to speculation that recent events in London have triggered the delay in the movies release. The movie stars Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving.
