V For Vendetta Reviews Start To Appear
Now that the V For Vendetta movie adaptation of Alan Moore’s graphic novel has had it’s world premiere in Berlin a few reviews are starting to filter through and right now there’s a real mix. On the one hand Aint It Cool News has posted what can only be described as a glowing review fresh from the Berlin screening.
The Variety review on the other hand pours more than a little cold water on all the excitement. One particularly damning statement is the claim that the movie:
suffers from many of same problems as last two installments of producers Andy and Larry Wachowsk’s “Matrix” franchise
The review concludes that:
In the end, competent but bland craft contributions ensure pic looks less like sci-fi stalwarts “A Clockwork Orange” and “Fahrenheit 451″ and more like “Batman Begins” or “Van Helsing.”
Up till now the movie has been getting a lot of praise and expectations have been raised to an almost ridiculous extent, so perhaps its just as well to read something like this and adjust your hopes down a notch or two.
