Watchmen Movie News
It seems that the movie version of Alan Moore’s graphic novel Watchmen may not be completely dead after all. Producers Lloyd Levin and Larry Gordon have moved the Watchmen movie to Warner Bros. This does make some sense since it was DC Comics (owned by Time Warner) that published Watchmen in the first place. Warners has of course had some success with comic book movies this year with Batman Begins Warners has two other comic book movies on the horizon with V for Vendetta and Superman Returns. V for Vendetta is of course also based on an Alan Moore graphic novel.
Unfortunately while Watchmen has moved to Warners, it seems that Paul Greengrass is no longer attached to direct the movie. Even worse it seems that the script by David Hayter has been set aside and in effect the whole development process will begin again. It’s not clear why they have chosen to look for a new script, but it seems that the absence of Paul Greengrass is simply down to scheduling conflicts.
I’m really hoping that the Watchmen movie gets back off the ground again. Watchmen is one of the graphics superhero comics of all time and while it wouldn’t be easy to adapt such a complex story to a two hour movie, it could be a truly amazing film.
