WB Developing Aquaman Series

The WB plans to develop a series based on the DC Comics superhero Aquaman. The new series will be developed by the same team that produces Smallville. Aquaman of course recently appeared on an episode of Smallville.

Producers Al Gough and Miles Millar have both signed on to create and executive produce the new Aquaman series. The series will revolve around Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman and the WB has bought a pilot for the project and casting is currently underway. Greg Beeman is on board to direct the pilot according to Variety.

The plan is to focus on character rather than superhero action just as with Smallville. However this project is not regarded as a Smallville spin-off and Alan Ritchson who played Auaman on Smallville isn’t under consideration for the role.

Aquaman is an odd choice for a series. The comicbook character has been around for a long time, but has been repeatedly re-vamped and never really been able to hold on to much of a readership.

Eoghann Irving is amongst other things the creator and Editor of Solar Flare. He has a life long interest in all forms of science fiction and fantasy and a pressing need to share this interest with anyone who will listen. Find out more at his personal website eoghann.com..
