Zack Snyder May Direct Watchmen
With the adaptation of Alan Moore’s V For Vendetta still in cinemas and doing quite well, perhaps that will give an additional push to another long running Alan Moore adaptation. Aint It Cool News is reporting that Zack Snyder who directed Dawn of the Dead and the soon to be seen 300 (itself based on a Frank Miller graphic novel) may sign on as director for the movie.
Snyder would be the latest in a long list of names attached to the Watchmen movie project, the rights to which are currently held by Warner Brothers. The Aint It Cool News report also mentions that there are script revisions underway. From the sound of things this is more fine-tuning than any radical alterations of the current script.
Watchmen is probably Alan Moore’s defining work and it is an extremely intricate and complex story. Successfully translating that to the screen will be no easy task. Of course regardless of how well or badly the work is done, don’t expect Moore to have any part in it. As he’s made very clear during the release of V For Vendetta, he will have no part of these works at all.
